This 5 hour seminar will teach you how to document your acupuncture treatments so carriers and all other healthcare providers will understand the rationale for your treatment as well as the medical necessity of that treatment. Whether you plan to become a provider for MassHealth or already accept patients with various insurance coverage, this class is important.

Class Details 

  • You’ll learn what information to capture in the first appointment and how to code for that Initial Evaluation and Management. 
  • Establishing the patient’s condition as a baseline allows you to create a treatment plan and goals for treatment. You’ll learn how to record range of motion, document specific activities of daily living as well as choose appropriate outcome assessment tests based on the patient’s presenting condition. 
  • You’ll understand what is needed in a re-evaluation and the positive outcomes to look for, measure and document. When documented properly, these results are proof your treatment is working and as such is medically necessary. 


Taught By 

Mori West CPC, the CEO of Acuclaims, an insurance billing company for Acupuncturists.  Last year Acuclaims collected over 10 million dollars for their clients.  Mori is a member of AMBA (American Medical Billing Assoc.) and was their 2010 member of the year.  She is also certified as a Professional Coder with AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders.)

Special instruction on basic orthopedic exams to strengthen your clinical documentation will be provided by Roger West, D.C., Q.M.E.  Dr West is a longtime advocate of acupuncture and for the last 34 years worked side by side with an acupuncturist is his practice.  Dr. West is a Qualified Medical Evaluator appointed by the state of California
