An Act Relative to the Practice of Acupuncture – Let’s Get the Senate Version of This Bill Moved Forward!
We are SO SO close!
Good news from the State House!
The ASM is very excited about the progress of both the House (H1179) and Senate (S2886) versions of the Bill we’ve been writing to you about for over a year (and in previous legislative sessions too). Now we need one more push for the Senate version. Let’s beat the clock before the 192nd Legislative Session closes this month.
Senate Bill S2886 – An Act relative to the practice of acupuncture, filed by State Senator Eric Lesser, is on the move! The Senate committee on Rules reported favorably legislation requiring health plans to cover acupuncture services for pain, PTSD, nausea and substance use disorder.
S2886 is now with the Senate Ways and Means, the penultimate stop before the Senate Floor. WOW!
This advance is the product of years of effort and now’s the time for the final push!
Please email your state senator the following letter ASAP (no later than 7/28):
Dear Senator ____________:
My name is ___________ and I’m a constituent in your district. I’m writing to request that you reach out to Chairman Michael Rodrigues and Senate Leadership and ask them to bring S2886 – An Act Relative to the Practice of Acupuncture to the Senate floor for a vote before the end of formal sessions in July.
This legislation was filed in the Senate by Senator Eric Lesser. It provides for expanded access to acupuncture treatment for pain, substance use disorder, PTSD and nausea. Each of these conditions have been proven effective in evidence-based, peer-reviewed studies. Many patients across the Commonwealth are seeking non-pharmaceutical treatment options for pain and substance use issues. This bill, if passed, would provide that opportunity state-wide in a cost-effective manner.
This is important to me individually and in my community. I hope that you will co-sponsor an Act relative to the treatment of acupuncture. Thank you for your attention and consideration.
