Periodically the ASM receives updates from MassHealth regarding information on their Provider Program. In addition to emailing these announcements to our members and colleagues, we will post them here in the ASM News Blog as well for future reference.
This particular policy information is mainly directed to any practitioners that may be pursuing the use of automatic technology to access information from MassHealth. Some organizations will use a standard user name and password to access the provider online service center, then set up a computer to quickly and automatically check eligibility, or process claims or any other automatic functions. For HIPPA reasons MassHealth needs to know when a provider is using that type of technology.
Dear Provider Association,
Effective July 1, 2022, MassHealth will require that any/all organizations (providers, business partners, and relationship entities that utilize Robotics Processing Automation (RPA) tools (AKA bots) on MassHealth’s Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) Provider Online Service Center (POSC) register the bot and request approval from MassHealth prior to the implementation of any bot technology. Any organization that utilizes Robotics Processing Automation tool (AKA bots) on the POSC without express permission from MassHealth is in violation of the MassHealth RPA Policy.
Organizations may begin to request RPA approval by submitting a registration request form to MassHealth on or after July 1, 2022.
